We are delighted to be offering this immaculate Aston Martin DBS V8 Saloon with 5 speed manual transmission. This superb example is a 1971 model year car registered to the first owner 4th July 1971. The exterior is finished in light metallic blue with an all leather dark blue interior. The DBS was formally known by the AMOC as the V8 Series 1 and was designed to accept the V8 engine that Aston Martin Lagonda had tried out, unsuccessfully, at Le Mans in 1967.  However, it wasn’t until the spring of 1970 that the, Tadek Marek designed engine, was available in the William Town’s styled DBS V8.  Between 1970 and May 1972 AML managed to build 402 examples before being replaced by the restyled AM V8.One of the few external differences from the six cylinder model was the larger front air dam.  The side profile of the DBS  V8 shows clearly the coke bottle shape of the rear where the rear lights were taken from the humble Hillman Hunter.  Another distinguishing feature of the V8 styling was the alloy wheels as the wired type could not handle the mighty torque from this bigger power plant. The 5340cc V8 Engine, initially fitted with Bosch fuel injection was powerful enough to propel the car to almost 160mph; and 0 to 60mph in 5.9 seconds.  Power outputs were not quoted but was probably around 310 to 320bhp.  At the time this was one of the fasted production cars in the world. One might remember a certain six cylinder car that had the alloy wheels and DBS V8 badging, the gold car (BS1) as driven by Roger Moore in the series The Persuaders. It therefore appeared that Roger was driving the recently unveiled car, but actually his one was modified just for filming.  Demand for the new car was so great that all the production cars had been allocated to eager buyer and so AML could not spare a single one for the programme.

This lovely  DBS V8 has been meticulously looked after and has only had 3 former keepers.
