We are delighted to offer the opportunity to acquire this unique specification, single owner Aston Martin Virage Volante supplied specially to commemorate the Aston Martin Owner’s Club Diamond Jubilee.

It is documented within the car’s history file that Aston Martin Lagonda joined forces with the world renowned jewellers, Cartier of London, to produce a solitaire edition of the Aston Martin Virage with wide body coachwork.  It is reported the car was offered for sale with Cartier Jewels for in excess of $1 million.

The Virage model was the last of the handmade Aston Martins built before Ford’s ownership.  Initially offered in coupe form in 1988, the Virage was considered altogether more graceful and streamlined than its V8 predecessor.  The 5.3 litre V8 engines were fitted with Weber-Marelli fuel injection and a redesigned cylinder head engineered by Callaway in Connecticut, USA.  A power output of 330hp and 364 foot-pounds of torque endowed the car with significant pace complementing the car’s opulent and luxurious interior.

In 1992 Aston Martin added a Volante version of the Virage and in the same year Aston Martin Works Service offered a 6.3 litre engine conversion along with cosmetic, suspension and braking enhancements.  The bodywork upgrades included the wheel arches being enlarged to allow for the 18” split rim OZ alloy wheels along with an larger front air dam, revised sill covers, extended rear valance and side air vents.

Many owners wished to retain the original 5.3 litre running gear but enjoy the visual upgrades, with these cars known as Wide Body Volantes.

This unique specification Wide Body Volante 1995 model year example was first registered in the UK for its one and only owner on 4th September 1996.

It was first unveiled at a ceremony at the Aston Martin Owner’s Club Diamond Jubilee Gala Ball at Grosvenor House in London on 31st March the previous year.

Originally supplied via Stratstone of Mayfair, we understand this is the only Virage Volante finished in special edition Zagato Lightning Silver metallic with all black leather interior, black carpets and silver alcantara headlining.  The exterior is perfectly complimented with a black mohair hood and for those warmer days a black leather tonneau cover.  As a reminder to its unique heritage this vehicle has the addition of the “Diamond Jubilee” badge proudly displayed on the boot lid, and in more recent years has had a woven wire mesh grille fitted.  The original grill is supplied with the car.

The car has now covered just over 4,500 mile and comes with full Aston Martin service history via JCT600 and Work Service, and has recently undergone various mechanical and bodywork refreshment work with ourselves.

A superbly prepared and much admired Aston Martin which surely is the most collectable Virage Volante for any dedicated Aston Martin enthusiast.
